Reflection on the first year

As the first year has gone by, I would say that I've had many highs and lows from my Digital Media Foundations. I started the year off rather excited, especially since I did not have any expectations of what the course would be like. When I first heard that we were going to be writing on blogs, I was slightly nervous. The idea of having to publicly write down my experiences, along with my thoughts and feeling was slightly scary to me because I wouldn’t know who would be seeing my blogs. However, as time went by, I slowly but surely got used to writing in my blogs. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to do new things, such as using Stop Motion, audacity, Premiere Pro, and more. I will admit to finding some of the software difficult to use, such as photoshop, and Illustrator. However, I am adamant to keep on learning how to use them, so that I can be able to create more projects. My favourite project/ assignment was probably using Stop Motion. Even though it took such a long time, I re...

Poster design

Feeling slightly uneasy about Adobe Illustrator, I still went ahead to use it to make my poster. It was going well, until it wasn’t. The Poster was supposed to be for our Lecturer’s nephew, who is a musician (who plays the classical guitar). He was having a concert in France, and wanted an advertisement for it (this being the poster).  My original idea was to have an image of a classical guitar, and both Charlie Richardson and the other half to his duo Anne-Lise Vaumoron in the guitar with details of the event around it. I had decided to use elements of Tony Harmer's video to help with my idea. However, I found it very difficult to create and ended up having to start again several times. By the fifth time, I had decided to give up my original idea. Unfortunately, I came to the decision to leave out the picture of Richardson and Anne-Lise. To be completely honest, I was not the biggest fan of the photo options we were given for the poster, so I wasn’t too disappointed. In the end, m...

LinkedIn Learning Pt2 (using Adobe illustrator)

Seeing as I found using Adobe Premiere Pro rather easy to understand, I was excited to use Adobe Illustrator. I had never used Illustrator before, so I did not really have any expectations. The first video I watched was an introduction to graphic design, by Tony Harmer (this video was 1hr and 12 mins). The reason for watching this video first was because he was explaining how to create a poster. I found it interesting how he was able to make a poster from a sketch (and use it as a template). Even though I had a different idea for my poster, I still think I can take points from his video and use them for my poster. In  Harmer’s video, he gives an introduction to graphic design, and goes on to explain how to create the poster, and finally wrap the file. The next video I watched was Illustrator 2021 Quickstart by Kladi Vergine. This video was 41 mins and showed the basics of how to use illustrator. Vergine had included things such as creating a document, using the pen tool, and finish...

Another trip to a museum

I wanted to visit two museums after the classes I had for the past couple of weeks. The first museum I went to was the Saatchi gallery. Seeing as I went there rather spontaneously, I was not able to go to any of the private exhibitions. However, they did have one free exhibition, named Studio: Response. It was an exhibition collaborating with three artists, Luke Hannam, Tom Norris and Luke Routledge.  Luke Routledge did the sculptures, Tom Norris created the ceramic vases and Luke Hannam painted the canvas art. My favourite was the art done by Luke Hannam, especially since it was painted on canvas, which is something I had never seen before in a gallery. Seeing the various patterns, colours and textures that the artists had used were rather fascinating to me, and I thought the exhibition was quite nice. To be completely honest, I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of the exhibition was, but nevertheless, I found the art to be interesting, and I will definitely look further into t...

A day in London

https://youtu.be/O8TRe9opgXA Being inspired by the first documentary I had made, I decided to film another one. This time, I wanted to film a day out in London, and the type of things I got up to when I was not at uni. On this particular day, I went out with a friend of mine, and we went around central London. The video starts off with me walking up the stairs, followed by the train arriving, which takes me to my main destination. After that, since it was the afternoon, I had lunch, and then we went to a marketplace, followed by a cafe to study. At times I felt a bit nervous to film since central London is a busy place and I did not want to accidentally film someone that would have a problem with being filmed. However, I did have a friend with me, so it gave me a bit of confidence.  The documentary ends with me going home the same way I arrived, on the train.  I had also used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit this documentary. Just like the first video, I enjoyed making this document...

Documentary

https://youtu.be/uSgJH 0_MC94 This task consisted of the class making a 60 second video as a “documentary”, which also had to include audio. The video had to be about my journey to uni.  The first time I filmed  footage for this documentary, it was very foggy, and to be completely honest, I was not happy with it. It did take a couple of tries for me to get footage that I was actually satisfied with.in the end the documentary was a mixture of the different days I filmed on. I wanted to film footage of particular parts of my journey. This included my train arriving, the view from the train and more. I felt it was important to show the main aspects of my journey, but also add other things to make the video interesting. For this task I used Adobe premier to create the video.  The editing was not difficult to do (seeing as I found the LinkedIn learning video easy to understand). Personally, what I think was the “issue” was the footage I used. I think because  the weather w...

LinkedIn learning(using Adobe Premier)

In order for me to have been able to make my documentary, I had to know how I was going to put it together. And for me to put it together, I had to use software (this particular one being Adobe Premier). And who was going to help me? None other than LinkedIn learning! It was recommended to use LinkedIn learning as a way to learn how to use software such as Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and more.  The specific video I watched was learning Premiere pro, by Ashley Kennedy. The video is sectioned into various parts, so if the viewer doesn't want to watch the whole video, they could automatically watch the part of the video they need to know how to use the editing app. The first video was 94 minutes, and the second was over seven hours. To be completely honest, the first video was all I really needed to watch, but if I wanted to know about anything in detail, such as editing in music, I would watch the second video. As someone who has not used Premiere Pro before, I found the videos very h...
