Another trip to a museum

I wanted to visit two museums after the classes I had for the past couple of weeks. The first museum I went to was the Saatchi gallery. Seeing as I went there rather spontaneously, I was not able to go to any of the private exhibitions. However, they did have one free exhibition, named Studio: Response. It was an exhibition collaborating with three artists, Luke Hannam, Tom Norris and Luke Routledge.  Luke Routledge did the sculptures, Tom Norris created the ceramic vases and Luke Hannam painted the canvas art. My favourite was the art done by Luke Hannam, especially since it was painted on canvas, which is something I had never seen before in a gallery. Seeing the various patterns, colours and textures that the artists had used were rather fascinating to me, and I thought the exhibition was quite nice. To be completely honest, I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of the exhibition was, but nevertheless, I found the art to be interesting, and I will definitely look further into t...

A day in London

https://youtu.be/O8TRe9opgXA Being inspired by the first documentary I had made, I decided to film another one. This time, I wanted to film a day out in London, and the type of things I got up to when I was not at uni. On this particular day, I went out with a friend of mine, and we went around central London. The video starts off with me walking up the stairs, followed by the train arriving, which takes me to my main destination. After that, since it was the afternoon, I had lunch, and then we went to a marketplace, followed by a cafe to study. At times I felt a bit nervous to film since central London is a busy place and I did not want to accidentally film someone that would have a problem with being filmed. However, I did have a friend with me, so it gave me a bit of confidence.  The documentary ends with me going home the same way I arrived, on the train.  I had also used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit this documentary. Just like the first video, I enjoyed making this document...

Documentary

https://youtu.be/uSgJH 0_MC94 This task consisted of the class making a 60 second video as a “documentary”, which also had to include audio. The video had to be about my journey to uni.  The first time I filmed  footage for this documentary, it was very foggy, and to be completely honest, I was not happy with it. It did take a couple of tries for me to get footage that I was actually satisfied with.in the end the documentary was a mixture of the different days I filmed on. I wanted to film footage of particular parts of my journey. This included my train arriving, the view from the train and more. I felt it was important to show the main aspects of my journey, but also add other things to make the video interesting. For this task I used Adobe premier to create the video.  The editing was not difficult to do (seeing as I found the LinkedIn learning video easy to understand). Personally, what I think was the “issue” was the footage I used. I think because  the weather w...

LinkedIn learning(using Adobe Premier)

In order for me to have been able to make my documentary, I had to know how I was going to put it together. And for me to put it together, I had to use software (this particular one being Adobe Premier). And who was going to help me? None other than LinkedIn learning! It was recommended to use LinkedIn learning as a way to learn how to use software such as Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and more.  The specific video I watched was learning Premiere pro, by Ashley Kennedy. The video is sectioned into various parts, so if the viewer doesn't want to watch the whole video, they could automatically watch the part of the video they need to know how to use the editing app. The first video was 94 minutes, and the second was over seven hours. To be completely honest, the first video was all I really needed to watch, but if I wanted to know about anything in detail, such as editing in music, I would watch the second video. As someone who has not used Premiere Pro before, I found the videos very h...

Principles of Design

For our first session on design, our lecture was on Principles of design. The five principles are Balance, Movement and Rhythm, Pattern, Emphasis, and Unity. I understood this as the most important aspect of design. Some designs follow all five principles, and some may only include one. However, I believe that a design must have at least one of these principles.  My personal favourites would be Movement & Rhythm, and also Pattern. As an example for both Movement & Rhythm and pattern, architecture was used. I really liked the photos of buildings, so decided to find a few I really liked, especially ones that had the elements of Pattern and Movement and Rhythm. The first picture is by Michael Paul Lewis, an Architectural Illustrator based in Bristol. The illustration is of the Royal Crescent, which is a row of 30 houses shaped in a crescent, and a rhythm of 114 ionic columns. Designed by John Woods, it is seen as one of the greatest examples of Georgian Architecture. The next ...

Interactive website

https://aliceschultzh.wixsite.com/my-site-1 For this “assignment”, my classmates and I had to come up with an interactive website, which included audio. I decided to work with some friends of mine since I personally believed that we are all such creative people, and together we could share our ideas and turn it into something fun and unique.  We had decided to use Wix as the website for our interactivity since it is rather easy to use, and had various templates for us to choose from as the base of our website. Originally, it was meant to be four of us in a group which is why the name is AHEM (an acronym of our names). To make things easier, our fifth member was added on as a feature. The main page has a picture of all five of us, photoshopped into a background of outer space. We all thought it would be a fun idea, and also make us in a way stand out, or appear to be “out of this world”.  Once you click on the picture of us, it shall take you down to the second page, which has ...
