Reflection on Digital Media Foundations so far

It's been nine interesting weeks since I started Digital Media Foundations, and I can gladly say that I have enjoyed it so far. The first three weeks I would say were the hardest, having to get used to the classes, and the topics that would be taking place. The first projects were a little difficult to do, but I think that as long as I practice using Photoshop and Audacity I shall become more confindent and comfortable using them. By the next couple of weeks, I felt that I was becoming more inspired in the classes, which helped me to be creative with my ideas for projects. Making a blog was fairly easy to do since I had experience making one .The last few weeks have not been as busy, nevertheless I am still quite excited to attend these classes as I feel that every lesson is unexpected.  Another thing that I quite enjoy about Digital Media Foundations is the Monday classes that we have. The reason behind this is because I like how we have a "theory" side to the classes, ...

A trip to the Tate

Instead of having our usual lesson in a classroom, on this particular day, I travelled to Tate Britain. The exhibition that I saw was: Heather Phillipson: Rupture No.1: Blowtorching the bitten peach. when I had first seen the name of the exhibition, I was very confused. My initial thought was that there might be a peach on "fire", but the reality was far from that.  The opening of the exhibition was a bunch of speakers hanging from a rope, with an array of screens showing various animal eyes. In the background, there was a colossal (possibly paper mache)sculpture of an unknown creature. As I continued walking through the exhibition, I noticed a rather peculiar sound that was playing in the background. To be honest, I  can not describe the sounds that I heard, but I remember them being really strange. I then saw a pitch-black pool filled with an unknown substance. above it was a projector flickering lights. I was slightly afraid to get too close to the pool since I was not sur...

Stop Motion

For this "project", a friend and I worked together to create an animation in the theme of "A new friend". we used to stop motion and shot it using an iPhone. The stop motion had sixty-three individual frames, a duration of twelve seconds, and a time frame of five frames per second. `The mini story is about a bear wandering around when he suddenly discovers a ghost tied to a “lamp post” and unable to get out of the mess it is in. The bear quickly figures out a way to untie the ghost, and by the end, they become friends and go off together into the unknown. I found that using stop motion required a lot of patience due to the number of shots we had to take.  I also did not realise that it would take such a long time to make. My friend and I ended up spending the whole duration of our class creating this stop motion (two hours). However, what I liked about having to use  stop motion was how easy it was to shoot the various frames, and also move them around (or delete th...

Client brief two

With the second brief, which is for an upcoming event, I had decided to do a promotional animation for a new smoothie product (Five-Flavour smoothie) for the brand Love Struck smoothies. The ten-second advert would be shown on mobile apps, such as YouTube, Instagram, and even included on game adverts or even short adverts that are included on websites. The reasoning behind why I chose to do a smoothie advert is because I have always found them to be fun, and unique. There is no specific demographic for this product, I wanted it to be something that anyone can view. However, I feel that the primary audience, (and also the psychographic for this product) would be people that are into products specifically for health, especially those who enjoy drinking (and making) smoothies. This particular animation consisted of a stop frame that had three-dimensional objects (fruits). The purpose of the video was to show the making of the new smoothie, and the fruits that are going to be put in the sm...

Client brief one

For the first brief, I was asked to create a photo spread for an online newspaper/ magazine which would be shown by using five photos. The subject/ theme that I decided to do is “Earth in a year”. The five photos that I chose are supposed to represent how the Earth can look during all four seasons (and showing the stereotypical weather that may come in that certain season). The type of publication that I would do this photo spread for would be a nature magazine, such as National Geographic, or BBC wildlife. The reason why I decided to choose this theme is due to the fact that as the year is coming to an end, I wanted to look back at how the atmosphere looked while being in various seasons in the year. This particular year has had many weathers, and I wanted to show the many aspects that the Earth can have.  The first picture represents spring, (when flowers typically begin to blossom) the second is summer, (the sun setting after a hot day) the third and fo...
