Photography (diptych)

  I decided to combine these two photos for my diptych. The reason behind that is due to the colours that are shown in both photos. My photo is the background picture (of a kaleidoscope) and I wanted to include a photo that also had a similar theme. The front picture is of Chinatown, which is a small area in London that is often filled with multi-coloured lanterns. When I first looked at the photos, I immediately thought of how the lanterns strung across the area reminded me of the colours that were inside the kaleidoscope, and how Chinatown was its own "open kaleidoscope". I had to use photoshop for this particular "project", which if I am being completely honest, I had a bit of difficulty with. Looking back at the experience with using Photoshop, I would say that I liked the various options they give you to be able to change a photo, and it allows you to use your full imagination. Seen strangely through glass

 When I saw the title 'Seen strangely through glass', I interpreted this particular brief as something I may see/come across every day, but through glass, my interpretation may change. This is why I decided to choose a kaleidoscope as my photo.  To those who may not know/ understand the concept of a kaleidoscope, it is an optical instrument (nowadays used for entertainment) where two mirrors are placed at a certain angle, and light bounces off the glass causing symmetrical images from pieces of coloured beads or glass. When you look through the reflector, you can see the colours in various patterns, which can be changed constantly through a rotating tube. I like how the patterns are never the same, and it gives you a chance to see colours in a unique and wonderful way, which can be visually pleasing to the eye. By looking through the glass, you get to see colours transform into patterns in a "strange" or even "weird" way.  I took this photo with my iPhone ca...
